7 Must-Try Seafood Restaurants in Bodega Bay, California

If you’re heading to the Northern California coastal town of Bodega Bay, then you’re probably gonna want to eat some seafood (as well as you should!). Whether you’re a clam chowder lover, a crab fanatic, or just someone who loves ocean-fresh bites, Bodega Bay has a seafood spot for you. Here are my top picks for fishy (in the best way) restaurants you won’t want to miss.

Where to Eat in Bodega Bay

Fishetarian Fish Market

If fresh, sustainable seafood with a side of some pretty great bay views is what you’re after, then Fishetarian Fish Market is your spot (It’s definitely my number one go-to place when I visit Bodega)! Their shrimp tacos, fish & chips, and clam chowder are some of the top sellers. Plus, they’re all about sustainable sourcing, so you can chow down without any eco-guilt. It’s a casual, outdoor spot—perfect for grabbing a quick bite while soaking up those chill coastal vibes.

Spud Point Crab Company

This little local hotspot is famous (like, award-winning famous) for their clam chowder, which has been crowned as the best multiple times. And trust me, that creamy goodness lives up to the hype! But don’t stop there, get the crab sandwich—it’s piled high with 1/4 pound of fresh Dungeness crab. The crab here is literally fresh off the boat from the dock next door. Be prepared to wait in line (seriously, it’s that popular), but the flavors make every second worth it.

Rocker Oysterfeller’s

If Southern comfort meets coastal seafood sounds good to you, you’ll want to stop by Rocker Oysterfeller’s. They’re famous for their oysters Rockefeller, but honestly, their clam chowder was one of my favorites. It’s rich, but not-so creamy, and everything you want on a cool bay day. Plus, they serve it with a side of yummy garlic bread. And if you’re lucky, you might even spot a seal or two swimming by while you eat. They were out there for my entire meal!

The Birds Cafe

This place is part seafood stand, part coffee shop, part gift shop (adorable, right?), and all-around amazing. I’m a sucker for their calamari, but the fish & chips are also a must-have. They have a walkup window where you order your food, then just pick a seat while they work their magic. The laid-back, casual vibe makes it perfect for a relaxed outdoor meal.

Gourmet Au Bay

Seafood and wine with a view? Yes, please! Gourmet Au Bay is right on the water and offers a great selection of wood-fired seafood dishes. Their smoked clam pizza and crab cakes are absolute winners, but if you’re not feeling seafood, they do have other options. That said, you’re next to the sea, so the seafood is where it’s at! Pair it with a glass of Sonoma County wine (because, obviously!), and you’re all set for a fantastic meal.

Drakes Sonoma Coast

For a more upscale (by Bodega Bay standards) experience, head to Drakes Sonoma Coast, located at the Lodge at Bodega Bay. This spot was just voted the #1 hotel in the world by Condé Nast, so you know it’s got some serious charm. Their farm-to-table approach means the seafood is fresh, local, and elevated. The coastal-inspired menu is perfect for when you want something fancy, but still want to feel connected to the ocean.

Terrapin Creek Café

Terrapin Creek Café earned a Michelin star in 2015 and are still featured in the Michelin Guide, thanks to their creative, seasonal seafood dishes. Don’t miss their Mediterranean stew, which has the perfect mix of fresh seafood with a flavorful broth that will leave you wanting more. If you’re looking for a more refined meal in town, this is your spot.If you’re in the mood for a refined, creative dining experience, this is your go-to spot (plus, hello, Michelin Guide bragging rights!).
