On The ‘Gram – Jul 08, 2020

If I could be… I would be back in nature.
⠀
Back by the water, where things are green, lush, and largely untouched by man.?
⠀
But, during these past few months, it feels like my entire life has been uprooted. Not because it physically has, but because I was envisioning such grand plans with the feeling of love beneath my wings…⠀
⠀
I’ve learned lately that as much as we hate to admit it, human beings are largely driven by feelings.⠀
⠀
We often KNOW better… but we just don’t feel like it, so we often don’t.⠀
⠀
It is The Thinking Brain Vs. The Feeling Brain according to @markmanson in his book #EverythingIsFucked #ABookAboutHope, and it’s given me a whole new perspective on what really influences people to do anything.⠀
⠀
I had let myself fantasize about my future and expanding my Airbnb business from just Denver to also include the Bahamas, and while I’m still just as scared, it’s the heaviness that lays on my heart these days really has hindered my drive to push myself to get it done. I had so much I took on, and now I’ve just dropped the ball.⠀
⠀
But part of what Manson teaches is that you have to learn to connect the two brains to work together and let the Feeling Brain in, instead of shutting it out completely and acting like we are solely logical creates… because we’re just not.⠀
⠀
If you are feeling lost or hopeless, I highly recommend giving it a read. I’ve linked to it in my list of “Books America Needs To Read Right Now”, which is via my link in bio. ⠀
