Just being the superstar that I am. ????⠀
⠀
My birthday is coming up in a few days… and my mother is more keen/excited to throw a birthday party than I am, lol.⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
Meanwhile, it is 35 degrees and snowing in Denver right now… ?☃️️⠀
⠀
I’m working on figuring out if/how to make the Bahamas villa deal still work, (future/current Bahamian investors, where you at? ?), but also just on my own procrastination.⠀
⠀
I delved into “The Procrastination Cure” by Damon Zahariades last night, and after addressing the reasons why we procrastinate, which include:⠀
⠀
– fear of failure⠀
– fear of success⠀
– perfectionism⠀
– a feeling of overwhelm⠀
– laziness⠀
– boredom⠀
– aversion to hard work⠀
– negative self-talk⠀
– low tolerance for adverse events⠀
– uncertainty about how (or where) to start⠀
– options that promise more immediate gratification⠀
– no immediate consequences for inaction⠀
⠀
The first strategy #damonzahariades presents is to “eat the ‘frog’ first”.⠀
⠀
“If your job is to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning.” – Mark Twain⠀
⠀
“Twain called unappealing tasks ‘frogs’. These are the tasks and projects for which you have no motivation. They hang over you like a dark cloud until you address them. The longer you put them off, the more stress they cause you to feel.⠀
⠀
It’s natural to put these ‘frogs’ on the back burner, addressing them at the end of your day. But that’s the worst thing you can do. Not only will they loom and cause you to stress, but you’ll have less energy to deal with them. That’ll only make them more difficult to work on, and easier to postpone until the following day.⠀
⠀
Tackle your ‘frog’ as early as possible. Get it out of the way. You may be surprised how exhilarating doing so can make you feel. It’ll give you a sense of accomplishment. You’ll also find that the rest of your day is easier by comparison.”⠀
⠀
So lets you & I both stop putting off the stuff that really needs to get done and eat them frogs! lol ⠀
