Heading to the California city of Redding and wondering where to grab a great meal? I’m excited to tell you, this city’s food scene is actually quite impressive. Whether you’re in the mood for a trendy breakfast spot, bold international flavors, or a 1938 classic steakhouse experience, the town has plenty of options.
I’ve done my homework by eating my way through the city, and these are some of the best Redding restaurants that you must try on your next visit.

Top Places to Eat in Redding
1. Paradisio
Let’s start with a classic: Paradisio. Chef Mike Hallead, a long-time staple in the kitchen, recently took over as owner and continues to wow diners with his incredible dishes. I opted for the tofu curry, which packed just the right amount of spice—warm, comforting, and completely satisfying. But, the elk burger had me battling a serious case of food envy.
With just a handful of tables, Paradisio feels like a cozy hideaway, but the quality of food makes it anything but low-key.

2. Pipeline
Pipeline is Redding’s newest hotspot, tucked inside the Shasta Bike Depot on California Street. Originating in Mt. Shasta, this place has already become a local favorite.
If you’re a fan of crispy, golden perfection, don’t miss the duck fat fries. But, I’m also officially obsessed with their seared ahi bowl—so much so that I went back for it a second time. Their burgers are also the talk of the town, which explains why I saw one on almost every table.

3. Odell Craft Barbecue
Odell Craft Barbecue is the ultimate insider tip for delicious barbecue in Redding, but you’ve got to plan ahead. They’re only open on Thursdays and Fridays, and they are known to sell out fast. The smoky, juicy meats are worth every bit of effort to snag a spot in line. While they’re planning to open a full restaurant (not until 2026!), for now, it’s all about getting there early.
Their menu is a barbecue lover’s dream. Think brisket, pulled pork, tri-tip, and ribs, paired with classic sides like mac & cheese, potato salad, broccoli-cranberry salad, and sweet & sour slaw. Sandwiches come stacked high on brioche buns with your choice of meat, pickles, onions, slaw, and their signature sweet red BBQ sauce. Don’t forget the honey butter rolls to round out your meal! Whether you’re team brisket or all about the ribs, this is barbecue done right.

4. Mosaic Restaurant
Mosaic is California cuisine, served in a modern-rustic setting that strikes the perfect balance between stylish and welcoming. This spot is all about sharing and savoring, making it ideal for a leisurely meal with friends or a romantic date night.
I tried a mix of their small plates, and they did not disappoint. The crispy Brussels sprouts with lemon marmalade and spiced pecans were delicious. The whipped feta with pistachios, Calabrian chili, and house focaccia was a unique new addition to the menu. And the king salmon on French lentils with mustard velouté was rich, elegant, and absolutely yummy.

5. Vintage Public House
For a laid-back vibe and food that delivers, Vintage Public House is a go-to. It has a bit more of a bar feel than a restaurant, but don’t let that discourage you from eating there! Their Brussels sprouts were some of the best I’ve had (crispy and perfectly seasoned), and the salmon with pesto was equally as great.
1790 Market St, Redding, CA 96001
6. Jack’s Bar & Grill
Step back in time at Jack’s Bar & Grill, a classic steakhouse that’s been a Redding staple since 1938. Known for its hand-cut steaks cooked to perfection on the original grill, Jack’s keeps things simple and timeless—don’t expect trendy dishes here (sorry, Brussels sprouts fans).
The dim lighting, wood-paneled walls, and vintage photos transport you to a bygone era, making it feel like a post-war time capsule. Pair your perfectly cooked steak with one of their famously stiff drinks, and you’ll understand why Jack’s remains a beloved local legend. It’s cozy, nostalgic, and the kind of place that’s stood the test of time.

7. Evergreen Coffee
Evergreen blurs the line between coffee shop and restaurant, and honestly, I’m here for it. Of course they are known for their exceptional coffee, but they are also known for their seasonal, locally sourced menu. They serve up some of the most exciting breakfast options in town. I tried their Persian Avo Toast—an herby, tangy masterpiece topped with cucumber salsa, feta, and local pomegranate seeds. It was fresh, yummy and completely unique.
Tip: Stop by on Sundays for $5 waffles, a popular local tradition affectionately dubbed “waffle church.” And don’t leave without grabbing some of their Feast Coffee Roasters chocolate—it’s as thoughtfully crafted as the food and the perfect treat to take home.
2085 Pine St, Redding, CA 96001
8. Karlines
Karline’s is a restaurant that brings people together over classic dishes and creative comfort food. From timeless staples like Shrimp Louie, lasagna, and beef stroganoff to elevated dishes like spicy jambalaya, osso bucco, and pancetta mushroom risotto topped with a poached egg, the menu strikes a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
Don’t miss their daily specials, where the chefs have the freedom to craft “eclectic fare” that’s both exciting and satisfying. Whether you’re indulging in clam chowder, savoring prime rib, or enjoying chicken and gnocchi, every dish is thoughtfully prepared—even the veggies and sides shine.
1100 Center St, Redding, CA 96001
9. The Rustic Table Asian Kitchen
The Rustic Table Asian Kitchen in Redding offers a blend of bold, authentic Asian flavors with a modern twist. Family-owned and established in 2020, this restaurant draws from its Hmong roots and infuses influences from across Asia to create dishes that are as unique as they are flavorful. The goal is simple: bring people together over great food and help create lasting memories around the table.
Must-try dishes include the Kimchi Fried Rice with pork belly and prawns, the Rustic Bibimbap with your choice of protein and homemade gochujang sauce, and the Beef Pho, a hearty combination of rice noodles, rare steak, brisket, beef meatballs, and prawns.

Traveling Soon? Use my Favorite Resources for Booking Your Trip!
Book Your Flight
Skyscanner is my favorite flight search engine, because it checks dozens of airlines so you can easily find the best fare deals. You can also select ‘cheapest month’ to find the lowest fares for your destination (I use this all the time!).
Book Your Accommodations
I use both Booking.com and Expedia for hotels, because each offers a couple different hotel choices and I like to compare the reviews on each one. If you have a group or are looking for more of a home atmosphere, head over to VRBO or AirBNB that has houses, apartments and even just a room for rent in every price range.
Book Your Rental Car
If love the freedom to explore like I do, driving from place to place is the best option! I always book with Discover Cars for the best prices and top brand options.
Book Some Fun Tours!
Viator and Get Your Guide are my go-to search engines for cool bucket list experiences! Each one can have different tours, so check both—why limit yourself, right?
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Travel can be unpredictable. Whether it’s a last-minute cancellation, an injury, or (ugh) theft, things happen. That’s why I recommend never leaving the country without travel insurance. Here are my faves: Safety Wing and World Nomads.
*Lastly, check travel.state.gov for visa requirements and safety information. And don’t forget any travel adapters you might need!
