Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Whistler for Spring

You can also opt to run through Toptable Group’s family of beloved Whistler dining rooms. Start your day with an avocado sourdough toast, flaky croissants, and a perfect pour of matcha Provisions, the brand-new cafe they opened in the heart of the Village. For a pre-dinner hang, sample one (or two) of the Gin & Tonic recipes at Bar Oso, Toptable’s homage to a Spanish tapas bar. The bite-sized montaditos (bite-sized sandwiches) topped with savory toppings like foie gras or marinated shrimp are the perfect little snacks. But for a full-on dinner, tackle an Italian feast at Il Caminetto, where you can fill up on crispy wagyu meatballs, nonna-approved pasta Bolognese, and grilled octopus paired with a nduja sofrito.

For a nightcap, head to the Mallard Lounge at the iconic Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which just unveiled their very own Blackcomb Gin. The bar showcases its unique notes in a cocktail called Northern Soul, a smooth, citrusy tipple that will draw out the cedar tips and local hops in the gin. Every sip is meant to remind you of the great outdoors.

Where to stay

The Four Seasons Resort & Residences Whistler is definitely the standard bearer when it comes to the area’s luxury lodging scene. And it recently introduced a few brightening updates to the property. Last year it unveiled a modernized courtyard and patio, which will be divine for sunny springtime afternoons, which you can while away with their Aperol cocktails. And earlier this year, its spa introduced new treatments in partnership with Sḵwálwen Botanicals, an Indigenous skincare built on ancestral First Nations traditions. The relaxing Sacred Space Massage, for instance, features long, flowing strokes with an arnica slave to target aching muscles.

On the other end of the indulgence spectrum, the Four Seasons’ marquee restaurant Sidecut just launched a meaty tasting menu featuring some truly spectacular steaks. The highlight here is the uber-rare A5 olive fed wagyu. On Shodoshima, a small Japanese island in the Kagawa prefecture, there are some prized cows being fed nothing but olives (leftover pressings from the olive oil production) so that they may produce buttery soft meat with a slightly nutty umami flavor.

If you’re traveling with a pack and would prefer more private accommodations, you’re in luck, because Wedge Mountain Lodge, a tony three-level villa rental, opened in November 2023 just outside the ski resort. The 12,000-square-foot mountain-chic property comes with 10 ensuite bedrooms, a sauna, a pool, an 18-seat movie theater, a pro-size pickleball court, and enormous windows that gorgeously frame the picturesque British Columbia landscape. Your group’s welcome drink can involve a champagne sabering experience in the wine cellar if you feel like a plain-old toast isn’t grand enough to commemorate the trip. And, this spring, your booking includes a complimentary four-course tasting menu for 10 guests on the night of arrival.
